Help Promote the Arts in Carbon County
A message from Kathy Fallow, founder and champion of the CCCArts Fund:
Dear Patrons of Carbon County Arts,
Thank you so much to those who have expressed an interest in helping us to launch the Carbon County Creative Arts fund!
We’ll be issuing an electronic newsletter several times a year, but if you’d like to receive more timely information, please join our group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/444798265966173/
On May 18th, we launched the Carbon County Creative Arts Fund with a party at my house. Dave Matsinko provided lovely music to accompany our event and several local artists, including Maryann Shafer, Lynn Shupp, Doug Didyoung, Fran Breininger, and Paula Zelinka exhibited their works for our enjoyment. Amber Breiner, executive director of the Carbon County Community Foundation, spoke of how the foundation formed in 2015 to support organized philanthropy in our area. The Arts Fund is held and administered by the Foundation and Amber has been a tremendous help to me in getting the fund off the ground! I also spoke to the group of my lifelong love of the creative arts and my desire to encourage more events to happen here in Carbon County. So many of you expressed excitement about our ideas and pledged your support, either in service or in helping to grow the fund. There is much to do, but the rewards promise to make it all worthwhile.
Our initial goal is to raise $25,000 by the end of this year to create an endowment so starting next year, we can begin to award $1000 to deserving arts initiatives annually. As the fund grows, so too will the amount we can distribute in the region. It’s a tall order, but the end result will be a permanent resource to support the arts in our community. Many of you have asked how you can best support the fund. Here are a few ways:
Join the fundraising committee – Right now we are planning fundraising events that showcase the arts and we could use your ideas. Do you have experience in fundraising? Have you planned events or worked on a successful fundraising campaign?  Committee meetings are either at my house or a local restaurant and always involve good company and good food!
Help with publicity – Did you work on your high school/college newspaper? Would you like to interview artists and publish events calendars to keep our subscribers informed of the talent that surrounds them?
Make a gift – If you haven’t had the opportunity, but would still like to support the fund, you can make your check out to the Carbon County Creative Arts Fund and send it to the Carbon County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 243, Lehighton, PA 18235 or give online. For those of you who have already made a gift to support the fund, we thank you and hope you will spread the word to others that may want to become supporters. Please feel free to encourage them to get in touch with either myself (Kathy.fallow@gmail.com) or Amber Breiner (director@cccfoundpa.org) to discuss making a gift.
Because this is a perpetual fund, it can be used to help leave a legacy in our community. It is the perfect vehicle to designate gifts in lieu of flowers or honor of a friend or loved one from the Carbon County region who cared about the arts. We also encourage community members to consider including naming the Carbon County Creative Arts Fund as a beneficiary in their will or estate plan.
Thank you for your consideration and your passion for our community!
Sincerely,
Kathy
