The Shane M. Smith Memorial Fund
The Shane M. Smith Memorial Fund was established by friends, teammates, and family to honor Shane Smith, a resident and graduate of Lehighton who passed away in 2008. The fund’s primary focus will be to provide grants to support the football program at Lehighton Area School District.
Additional grants may be made to other charities and causes that align with Shane’s interests and hobbies.Â
Shane M. Smith
Shane M. Smith was a graduate of Lehighton Area High School, where he excelled in football. His heart, smile and soul created a championship environment in the locker room, but also in the community. Shane later graduated from A.T.I. Trade School in Virginia Beach, VA, and he most recently was employed in the construction field, working for All Trade Construction Co. in Palmerton. He was of Lutheran faith and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe. He also held a membership at the Lehighton American Legion Shoemaker/Haydt Post 314 and was involved with the B&G Racing Team, Lehighton. Shane unfortunately passed away in 2008 at the age of 23, but his memory lives on through this fund established by his friends, teammates, and family.Â
