Panther Valley Blueprint Community Fund
About the Panther Valley Blueprint Community
The Blueprint Communities Program was started by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh in 2005 to help revitalize communities in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Some communities use the program to develop tourism, create better housing options, support local businesses, and redevelop historic buildings.
In 2024, the boroughs of Lansford, Nesquehoning, Summit Hill, and Coaldale were jointly approved as a Blueprint Community. Representatives from each borough serve on the Blueprint Communities Team, participating in a ten-year designation program that consists of leadership training, skill building, and community revitalization planning. The Panther Valley Blueprint Community Fund supports the operations and projects of that team.Â

The mission of the Panther Valley Blueprint Community is to improve the quality of life by building a vibrant and resilient Panther Valley community, by promoting equity, creating more recreational opportunities for all ages, developing our neighborhoods to be healthy and enjoyable spaces to live for both current and new residents, and by supporting business owners and entrepreneurs in creating local jobs and spurring economic development.
The Panther Valley Blueprint Community team has the following initial goals:
- Develop Panther Valley leadership
- Complete an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the Panther Valley
- Create a five-year Community Plan, including community input
- Complete small, visible projects in each community with the support of mini grants
- Build relationships with existing Panther Valley partners and/or find new ones that will better position the to implement plans
- Expand community networks
Funds will be used to support the completion of these goals as well as any other projects the Team wishes to carry out for the benefit of the Panther Valley community.
