“A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day
of his life, in order that worldy cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful
which God has implanted in the human soul.”
—Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Born and raised in Carbon County, Kathy Fallow spent most of her adult life in metropolitan
areas that afforded her a rich selection of creative arts. “Throughout my life and my travels, I
have been fortunate to have been surrounded by creative people; musicians, artists, poets, and
actors,” said Fallow. “The arts have helped me celebrate the joys of life and have lifted me up in
times of sorrow.” It is this life experience in mind that Fallow aims to help encourage the arts
within our region.

The Carbon County Creative Arts (CCCA) Fund was recently established at the Carbon County
Community Foundation to support all manner of artistic pursuits for the benefit of the region.
The fund will offer support for the arts by awarding grants to qualified nonprofit organizations,
charitable programs and individuals pursuing the creative arts with a public benefit. Eligible
activities include (but are not exclusively limited to):

    • Fine Arts (painting, sculpture, etc.)
    • Performing Arts
    • Music
    • Photography, Film and Graphic Arts

Kathy has pledged to help advocate for and grow the Fund for the benefit of Carbon County
and will serve on the committee of Fund advisors with other community members. Any individual or organization with a passion for the arts may contribute to the Fund. The
Community Foundation is a 501(c)3 qualified charitable organization that by creating this
resource will provide fiscal transparency, accountability, and stability for the Fund. Distributions
will begin once the Fund grows to sufficient size. “Our plan is to create an endowment for the
arts in our community,” said community foundation executive director Amber Breiner. “The
Foundation will manage the CCCA Fund so these funds exist as an ongoing resource for
communities in Carbon County for generations to come.”

It is Fallow’s goal that “the Carbon County Creative Arts Fund will help to fund artists and their
programs within our county and hopefully inspire artists, young and old to bring their talents to
our neighborhoods and enrich our lives.”
