Guidelines for Grants
- 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply. If you do not have a 501(c)(3) status, please contact CCCF’s director to see if it might still be possible for you to apply.
- If applicant is not the Chief Executive Officer themselves, he or she should have authorization from the CEO to apply on the organization’s behalf.
- Applicants are welcome to request all manner of support, including program, capital, and operational support.
- Unless otherwise stated in the fund description or application instructions, the requested funds should support organizations, programming, or projects in Carbon County. Organizations based outside of Carbon County are eligible to apply as long as the programming is happening in or serving Carbon County.
- The project, program, or activities for which funding is sought should be completed within the 12 month period following the grant award. As part of the grant agreement, the organization should expect to provide a brief follow-up report (see report template/guidelines)
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to list other resources, including in-kind support, in their budgets. CCCF may fund a project 100%, however, we encourage collaboration and like to see other resources committed.
Grant Application Evaluation
Each fund at the Community Foundation is different, but generally, we take into consideration five key areas when evaluating your grant application:
Strategy/Feasibility: Does the proposal have clear goals, including a well-thought-out timeline? Does the proposal present a solid strategy for achieving anticipated goals?
Community Need: Is there a significant, critical, localized, and timely need for the program or project proposed?
Impact/Return on Investment: Will the program or project have a significant, far-reaching, and/or long-lasting impact on Carbon County and its residents?
Sustainability: Is the proposal realistic and attainable? Does the organization have the intent and capacity to sustain the program?
Budget/Organizational Health: All project expenses and other revenue sources are realistic considering audience size and stated goals? Is the organization financially secure? Is the leadership/board actively engaged in organizational governance and success?
