Kenneth 'Cutter' Weaver Memorial Scholarship Fund

About This Scholarship:

Established by Tracy and Chase Weaver to honor their late husband and father who passed away in 2024, the Kenneth ‘Cutter’ Weaver Memorial Scholarship Fund will provide financial assistance for higher education to students in memory of its namesake.

The Kenneth ‘Cutter’ Weaver Memorial Scholarship shall be a one-year, non-renewable scholarship of at least $500.  It shall be awarded annually to two qualified high school seniors graduating from Panther Valley School District.  One award will go to a member of the high school football team and one award will go to a member of the boys’ basketball team.

Minimum qualifications for the scholarship include:

  • Graduating high school senior with plans to attend an institution of higher education or advanced vocational training
  • Active member of the football team or boys’ basketball team at Panther Valley High School.  Preference will be given to applicants who were members of either team for all four years of their high school career.
  • The applicant should be a team player who also has the qualities to stand out as a team leader, especially on the field or court.
  • Academics will not be considered for this scholarship; the applicant does not need to be a standout student.  Instead, this scholarship should go to a student who may not be eligible for other academic awards

If either the football or basketball team does not have a qualified candidate, the scholarship can be awarded to multiple members of either team (or some variation) at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.

    Kenneth “Cutter” Weaver

Kenneth ‘Cutter’ Weaver was a Panther Valley High school graduate, class of 1981, where he excelled on the football field his senior year, accumulating more than 1,000 yards of total offense, was Schuylkill League 1st team offense and defense, and an all-state honorable mention. There were many articles and countless people who said he was the toughest high school football player they had ever seen. He played through a separated shoulder and other injuries, demonstrating his grit and determination.

Cutter enjoyed fishing, golf, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching Mets games or any sporting event with his son Chase and just enjoyed spending time with him. He was an ardent Kansas City Chiefs fan and attended a number of games with Chase and Tracy. Cutter cherished his role as “Dad” and took immense pride in attending Chase’s sporting events and watching him become a terrific young man.
